Business Guide
A step-by-step guide for hotels, spas and retailers launching their own bedding brand — from fabric selection to MOQs and packaging.

Launching a private-label bedding line is one of the smartest moves a hotel group, spa or retailer can make. It protects margin, creates a consistent guest or customer experience, and turns a commodity category into a brand asset. This guide walks through the essentials, in the order you will actually need them.
Step 1 — Define your product range. Start with the core SKUs: duvet covers, bed sheets, pillowcases and pillows. A focused assortment reduces minimum order quantities, simplifies inventory and shortens lead times. Most successful first programmes run three to five SKUs, not fifteen.
Step 2 — Choose fabrics and thread counts. For hospitality, 300 to 600 thread count cotton or a cotton-poly blend delivers the durability that industrial laundering demands. For retail and DTC, longer-staple cotton sateen, bamboo blends and linen-look weaves command higher price points.
Step 3 — Understand MOQs realistically. A typical fabric MOQ is 200 to 500 units per size and colourway. Many factories now offer flexible entry points for sampling and pilot orders — 50 to 120 units — which is usually the smartest way to test a market before committing to a container.
Step 4 — Sample properly. Always request physical samples before committing to bulk production. Evaluate hand-feel, seam construction, colour fastness and packaging. Wash the sample at least five times before approving it; bedding that looks good on day one and pills by day ten is not a product line.
Step 5 — Packaging and labelling. Custom woven labels, embroidered flags, hang tags and eco-packaging differentiate your line and justify premium pricing. Budget for labelling separately from fabric: it is usually the smallest cost and the largest impact on perceived value.
Step 6 — Plan lead times and reorders. Expect 20 to 35 days for production plus transit. Build a reorder cadence with your factory, and make sure they hold your approved specification, trims and fabric lots so reorder three matches order one. That consistency is what turns a launch into a product line.
